Artisan produce from both Haiti and Sri Lanka for sale

Sarah has started several ‘Back to Work’ projects in both countries and there will be a selection of goods for sale to guests in a display cabinet in the Salon.

These will include hand made bags from Sri Lanka from the Bags of Appeal project. These are colorful handloom bags made in the Bridge2Srilanka Charity funded workshop – there are 14 staff employed in a totally ethical manner.

Jewellery from Haiti from the Paper2Beads2Haiti project. This gives 7 people work making beads from paper and then creating stunning jewellery items. These are created on an Internally Displaced Persons camp of 33,000 people living under tarpaulins in shocking conditions. The money they make on these items is giving them some hope for the future.

All the proceeds – 100% - of the money made goes straight back to Haiti and Sri Lanka.

There will also periodically be wonderful wooden bowls from Haiti produced by a man called Einstein Albert – yes really! The wood is called Obeechi and is farmed especially for his business. These bowls are so hard to come by, as Donna Karen has recently become a customer.  All profit we make on these bowls goes into a school in Haiti we are supporting.
