Channel crossings: Dover
to Calais or Boulogne are the quickest crossings; Crossings to
Caen, Le Havre and Cherbourg take longer, but the drive to Charly
is slightly shorter. The journey from Calais is about 5-1/2
hours. Directions are available via the usual route planners.
Arriving from Bourges:
Take the N76 in the direction of Moulins from the ring road around
Bourges. After about 30KM, directly after passing through Blet on
the N76, take a left hand turn onto the D6 sign-posted for Charly
and Nerondes. The Chateau is the first building on the left can
be accessed through the gates on the left hand side of the road.
Arriving from the A77 (junction 28 at La Charitie-sur Loire ):
Head towards Bourges which takes you past the town of La Charitie
avoiding the centre, turn right over the River Loire at the traffic
lights. Continue on this road until you reach
Sancergues. Turn left from the main high street in
Sancergues, sign-posted D6 to Nerondes, the turn is on the corner
so be careful not to miss it. The D6 will take you all the way to
Charly passing through several small villages. To stay on the D6
when reaching Nerondes you will come to come to a T-junction after
passing the station. Turn right onto the high street at this
T-junction. Continue on the high street for a short distance
until past the Lion d’Or where you take the next left hand turn
back onto the D6. There is a statue of Jesus on the cross at the
turn. Continue on the D6 until you reach Charly. Pass
though the small village of Charly and over the crossroads at the
centre of the village. About 150 m past the crossroads on the
right hand side are the gates to the Chateau.
