Whether
looking for a stop over or a place to stay for a holiday our
Chateau is perfectly located to enjoy all that the Loire Valley
has to offer. The Chateau is situated in the picture postcard
village of Charly, where weeping willows line the stream running
through the centre of the village. Walks around the Chateau
grounds or in the area are a great way to slow down and relax.
The village has a beautiful 12th century Church with a painted
ceiling which has been restored to its original glory, one
of only ten examples found in France.
At the Chateau
We have a beautiful private swimming pool in the grounds of our
Chateau. It is situated in the Orchard, a stone walled area, with
many fruit trees; a beautiful setting for lounging around the pool
and enjoying the sunshine.
We have bikes availlable for guest use, get some exercise and enjoy the surrounding countyside.
We have an in-house beauty therapist
who can be booked for beautry treatments from facials to massages, full
details availble on request. You can make a booking either before you
arrive or during your stay.
In the Region
Bourges is a fantastically beautiful medieval town at the centre
of which, the famous cathedral is renowned for its breathtaking
architecture. The town is lively with many restaurants, bars
and cafes to be found on its cobbled streets. A memorable experience
is the 'Son et lumiere' a free lights and music show which you
can wander round on a warm summer evening.
More information on Bourges and the region is available at the
or The Berry Regions Tourist Office
The region is well known for its produce, namely wine and goats
cheese. Stop by one of the many vineyards around the picturesque
hill top town of Sancerre and try some of the wine. Visit the
wine exhibition and learn how the unique geology and climate
at Sancerre provide the perfect conditions for world class wine.
The Loire Valley is full of magnificent Chateaux varying in
size from the small to the palatial. Many of these larger Chateaux
are open to the public and help paint a picture of the lives
of the rich and famous in pre-revolutionary France.
The finest porcelain in France is produced in the region and
a visit to the world centre for ceramics at La Borne is not
to be missed. There are around 50 workshops at La Borne which
are open to the public as well as a museum.
